September 15, 2025 · The British Embassy in Manila, with co-chairs Climate Change Commission (CCC) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), outlined the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) to strengthen the Philippines’ climate response strategies.
The NAP localization approach aims to equip 10 high-risk provinces by utilizing state universities and colleges through the Adaptation Investment Learning Course (AILC), meant to build capacity on risk assessments, data-powered planning, and NAP-aligned interventions. However, said provinces haven’t been identified and disclosed at the time of this reporting.
“We recognize that resilience must be built from the ground up. That’s why we are working closely with local governments, civil society, and indigenous communities to ensure that adaptation strategies are context-specific, inclusive, and responsive to local needs,” said Lloyd Cameron of British Embassy Manila. “Empowering local actors is not just good practice, it is an essential for sustainability.”
