Sustina and Upgrade InnoLab bring climate entrepreneurship training series to Davao City

Three-day workshop with Upgrade InnoLab opens Sustina's climate entrepreneurship series under its Climate KIC grant.

Sustina trained 30 individuals in Davao City from October 13-15, 2026, in a workshop for climate entrepreneurs organized with Upgrade InnoLab.

The three-day training marked Sustina’s first workshop in Mindanao, and the first part of its workshop series on climate entrepreneurship, funded through a grant from Climate KIC.

Over two days, participants worked through two modules in person at the Upgrade InnoLab office. On the third day, participants joined an online session.

The first module, Impact Metrics, focused on how to measure and report the difference their work makes for the climate and for their communities. The second, Storytelling and SustainabilityGlobal EssentialsSustainabilitySustainability is the ability to manage and use resources to meet present needs without compromising future generations. Participants came from startups, small businesses, schools, government, and civil society. They included Envirotech, Green Tayo, Agrinext, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Ateneo de Davao University, ASQB Business School, Lesstics, Interfacing Development Interventions for Sustainability (IDIS), Anitu Chocolates, and Espoire School of Life.

Part of the workshop’s outputs required the participants to rethink their most important impact metrics.
Participants were divided into groups and asked to fill out worksheets using post-its.

“Climate entrepreneurs in Mindanao are already doing important work, yet they rarely get the chance to learn how to measure that work and tell its story well. That is why we chose to begin our series here,” said Anna Reyes, Executive Director of Sustina. “Over three days, we watched participants put numbers to the change they create and shape those numbers into stories that customers, partners, and funders can trust. Good ideas grow faster when people can show clearly what they have achieved.”

The Davao City workshop is the first part of the workshop series. Details on the next workshop will be released in the coming months.
