Sustina wins global media grant from Syli and climateXchange for Circular Solutions Map

The $10,000 grant will support the development of the geo-referenced map.

Sustina was awarded the Climate Culture Journalism Innovation Grant by climateXchange presented by Syli and the World Association of News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) at the Digital Media Awards in Manila Hotel on April 28, 2026.

The $10,000 grant supports Sustina’s Circular Solutions Map, an interactive map that integrates the Philippines’ directory of circular solutions onto a living, story-driven platform.

Syli’s flagship climateXchange program empowers initiatives on climate news narratives that are technology-forward. It focuses on solutions with “real-life social impact for the climate” that merges the power of tech, media, and storytelling.

“We are honored to award Sustina for its geo-referenced circular economyCircular Design & EconomyCircular economyAn economic model designed to keep materials in continuous use through maintenance, reuse, remanufacturing, and recycling, decoupling economic activity from the consumption of finite resources.Read more in the Glossary → tool, a pioneering B2B climate product that demonstrates how climate media innovation can achieve both commercial traction and measurable environmental impact,” said Shereen Daver, Senior Director for Growth and Innovation at Syli.

The first of its kind: A circular solutions map

Despite growing interest among corporations around the Philippines for environmentally-friendly materials, partners, and suppliers, there is a disconnect between the merchants and the market. Circular businesses continue to operate under the radar and within their own communities—unable to impact the large systems that generate the most waste, carbon emissions, and toxicity to the planet.

The Circular Solutions Map concept that won Sustina the Climate Culture Journalism grant solves this gap with an interactive map showcasing circular solutions across the Philippines. Hosted on the Sustina website, the map will be linked to original stories produced by the Sustina editorial team. This includes in-depth features about circularity issues that bring sustainability enterprises—and how to support them—closer to consumers through storytelling.

The map uses data from Scale360,the Philippines’ first circular solutions directory, originally created by Circulo.

In 2021, Circulo launched Scale360 with funding from the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, supported by World Economic Forum, Global Shapers Cebu, and British Council Circular Futures Lab. Its founder, Carlo Chen-Delantar, was recently named a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader, Class of 2026, and currently sits on Sustina’s board.

Through stories that show potential customers the value and impact of working with circular solutions, the Circular Solutions Map hopes to inspire real and measurable change among corporations, resulting in significant sustainable developments across industries and communities.

The Climate Culture Journalism grant was awarded to Sustina at the WAN-INFRA Digital Media Asia conference in Manila, and was received by Anna Reyes (Sustina Executive Director and Co-founder), Nina Unlay (Sustina Editorial Director and Co-founder), and Carlo Chen-Delantar (Circulo Founder, Sustina Trustee).

The Circular Solutions Map is scheduled to launch in 2026.
